Back in June at 5am almost 4 weeks earlier than planned and 3 days before I was due to set up my final wedding cake before going on maternity leave my waters broke! Frantically I woke my husband up telling him that not only was it to early (all my previous pregnancies had gone overdue by at-least 10 days) but that i also had a cake that I needed to complete for the weekend..
I called the midwife who arranged for me that morning, at my appointment they confirmed that my waters had indeed ruptured and that if i didn't go into labour myself within the next 24 hours I would be induced. we came out of my appointment and I immediately said to my husband that I was off to the studio, my husband looked at me like I was insane but there was no way that I was going to let my couple down, plus no pains had started yet so I figured I was good to go and a little gentle baking might start the whole process off naturally Off to the studio I go! During the day I managed to bake all the cakes, and prepare all the decorations needed. by the next day the baby had still not made an appearance so I was induced. Saving you from the gory details fast forward to 56 hours later and my beautiful Reggie arrived, happy and healthy and making our family complete. The midwife then explained that because my temperature had spiked during labour I would have to stay in overnight, the baby was completely fine it was just me that I was worried about. I explained to them that whatever happened I was leaving at 7am! I also told my husband this and made sure that he was there to pick me up at 7am. that morning he came to collect me and took me straight to the studio. Where in between breastfeeding and caring for my gorgeous new baby boy I finished the wedding cake. My husband then drove me to the venue to set up the wedding cake where the wedding planner could not believe that I had still fulfilled my clients wishes less than 24 hours after giving birth. To see the cake finished and on that table has to be one of the most rewarding moments of my career so far. so when I tell you that I give you my everything when i make your wedding cake for you I really do, this is not just a job to me its my passion, my love and my soul and you can count on me to show up no matter what!
